What to Expect
INITIAL ASSESSMENT/CONSULTATION – FIRST OFFICE VISIT
Before meeting with Dr. Steve you will be required to fill out a new patient package that will give him an idea of your current health challenges, past medical history and goals for your health. Some of the things Dr. Steve may ask you during the health history after reviewing your forms may include; major illnesses past and present, trauma, past or pending surgery, medications, what you believe caused your injury (mechanism of injury), relieving and aggravating factors, steps you have taken to manage your condition and any previous imaging (X-rays/MRI/CT). All of the above provide Dr. Steve with a solid foundation of your current health status after which the doctor moves on to perform a focused physical examination. The physical exam will include ; postural analysis, range of motion testing, palpation of the involved vertebral (bone) and soft tissue (muscles/ligaments/fascia/tendons) structures, orthopedic testing, neurological testing including strength, sensory and reflexive testing, load bearing and non load bearing foot analysis. X-rays may or may not be ordered and are case dependant. The goal of the assessment is to find the root cause of what brings you into the office. The examination that you are taken through is a “whole body” chiropractic exam.
REPORT OF FINDINGS VISIT – SECOND OFFICE VISIT
The focus of the second visit is to educate you and provide you with a treatment. An individual package is prepared for you that explains everything that was found on the initial examination which Dr. Steve will review with you personally. The information that is shared with you will include; what your condition is, why it developed, what our plan is for your recovery, and what your choices/options are when it comes to treatment. If x-rays were taken then they will be reviewed with you as well. A treatment will be administered after all of the above is reviewed with you, and advice will be given for post treatment care. The first and second visits to the office are your longest appointments with Dr. Steve and provide the doctor with a solid foundation of information to provide you with the best care tailored to your needs and goals moving forward.
SUBSEQUENT OFFICE VISIT – THIRD OFFICE VISIT AND BEYOND
There is nothing “regular” about a regular office visit. Don’t let the brevity of these visits fool you, now that Dr. Steve knows your history and your clinical picture he can quickly size up where you need to be adjusted and which soft tissues need to be addressed. Each visit builds on the one before. Much like regular exercise, proper diet and sufficient sleep/rest are all beneficial to your health, regular chiropractic adjustments make sure your nervous and musculoskeletal system is functioning at its best.
